Health Min urges CM to form core team to tackle dengue

PANJIM: As Chief Minister Pramod Sawant calls for coordination of health department with local bodies to tackle dengue menace in the State, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane has urged the former to form a core team to handle the situation, jointly.  

Till August, over 140 cases of dengue were reported in the State. Also, three suspected dengue death cases are under investigation. 

On Thursday, Chief Minister reviewed the prevailing dengue situation in the State during a meeting with officials of the health department. 

On Friday, in series of tweets, Rane thanked the Chief Minister for his intervention of holding review meeting and has urged him to form a core team to handle such situations, jointly.  

"It is necessary to have other departments on board to eliminate the menace of Dengue," he tweeted. 

He said that Secretary Health has been directed to coordinate with the panchayats and officials from the urban development, as it is the need of the hour to unitedly fight dengue. 

The Minister added that the health department is doing its best to control dengue through awareness programmes and fogging at various places. He said that the focus is on schools, educational institutions and slum areas to do awareness as well as fogging. 

"I am confident that our department will be successful in controlling dengue, just as we eliminated Malaria from the State," Rane tweeted further.
