Heavy vehicular traffic permitted on Chorla Ghat from 10 pm to 5 am

The Anmod Ghat route is currently closed for heavy traffic due to ongoing repair work, as a result of which vehicles have to cover an extra distance of 160 km while moving from Belgaum via Canacona.

VALPOI: The North Goa Collector has issued a rectification order that now allows heavy vehicular traffic on Chorla Ghat stretch between Goa and Belgaum, from 10 pm to 5 am. This indicates that heavy vehicles will not be permitted to use the route from 5 in the morning till10 at night.

It may be recalled that eight days ago, the North Goa Collector had issued a notification banning heavy vehicular traffic along the route as it was posing risks to passenger vehicles. 

This had created a tense situation at the Keri check post as police withheld a large number of goods vehicles at the border. However, since there is no other convenient route, the Collector issued the rectification order.
