
MARGAO: Several residents of Manora-Raia were in shock when they found their electrical appliances damaged in the earlier morning hours of Sunday due to the high voltage.
Failure to address the issue pertaining to frequent power outages, despite repeated requests, has now resulted in damages to electric home appliances of several households, alleged residents.
Officials at the power sub-station at Raia went into a denial mode and said that there were no power failures in the mentioned locality.
It is pertinent to note that residents of Manora and surrounding area at Raia are continuously expressing their frustrations for due to the inconvenience caused due to the repeated power failure in their locality. However, despite numerous complaints and pleas, the problem remains unresolved, and now resulting in damages to the home appliances.
Anthony Fernandes, resident of Manora, power failure was once again reported at 3.30 am on Sunday.
“My two ceiling fans were damaged due to the repeated power failure followed by high voltage power restoration. Several other residents of Manora have also reported damages to their electric home appliances such as fans, TVs sets and even internet supply related equipment,” he informed.
“I have been personally bringing this issue to the concerned official for the last several months but the power department failed to resolve the same. We have been demanding to replace the transformer located in the area and nobody has ever tried to resolve our issue,” he alleged.
Another resident also complained that his TV sets were damaged in the earlier morning hours of Sunday.
“The log sheet of the sub-station does not report any such incidents of power failure and high voltage at the time of restoration on Monday and Sunday morning”, said the official.
