PONDA: Stating that the Home Guards performing their duties on the State’s roads are suffering along with their families for not receiving their salaries for the past three months, Marcaim MLA Sudin Dhavalikar on Wednesday urged the government to immediately release the funds towards payment of their salaries.

Addressing media persons along with Kavlem sarpanch Rajesh Kavlekar, the MLA also called upon the government to release the payment under the Griha Aadhar scheme and social security scheme for senior citizens.

He said the Home Guards apprised him of their families’ suffering. These Home Guards are paid daily wages between Rs 300 and 400 and that too they don’t receive on time. He urged Chief Minister to urgently look into matter.

He informed that a Home Guard, who tested positive COVID in Marcaim, is facing hardship due to non-payment of salary. “Without salary how will the families of Home Guards survive,” he asked.
