MARGAO: The Curtorim Carnival Committee has planned a host of events, competitions and performances from March 3 to 5.

Every year, the committee organises a dance competition, drawing competition, fancy dress completion and a grand float parade.

This year, they will organise the all Goa singing competition “Goan Voice 2019” for juniors as well as seniors. In addition, they will be hosting the “Culinary Queen of Curtorim 2019”, a cooking contest for women and girls of Curtorim as well as a Drawing contest for children.

The committee has declared Nicolas Paes as its King of Festivals. The parade will leave from Maina Church ground to Curtorim market square at 3 pm on March 5. The carnival float parade along with the competitions have become very popular over the years and have attracted huge crowds, said the organisers.

“There is a total emphasis given to only traditional floats and local participation. We take pride in organising one of Goa’s most entertaining and professionally organised carnival programmes,” CCC General Secretary Irish Veigas said.

The organisers credited and thanked the local MLA Alexio Reginaldo Lourenco and the Department of Art and Culture for their support as well as their well-wishers who donated money for hosting the event.
