MARGAO: The issue pertaining to doctors and nurses being asked to vacate the flats occupied at the Kanchanganga Co-operative Housing Society, at Abade Faria Road, in Margao, was amicably resolved on Saturday with the society chairman Hemant Angle tendering apology for the written order letter.

It may be recalled that some of the nurses working at Borkar Nursing Home were living in two flats in ‘C’ Block of the society and they were asked to vacate the flats by an order issued by chairman of the society Angle. He, besides claiming that they were occupying the flats without permission from the society, had also stated that working with the COVID patients they could contaminate people living in the society.

The letter had drawn a lot of flak in the social media with people from all walks of life condemning the chairman. Meanwhile, the Trained Nurses Association of India vide a complaint with the Fatorda Police also demanded that a defamation case be booked against Hemant Angle.

The Trained Nurses Association of India stated that Angle had defamed the frontline warriors like nurses, who are fighting to curb the pandemic and also mentioned that such acts would result in nurses being sidelined everywhere.

Fatorda Police Inspector Kapil Nayak summoned the nurses and Angle to the police station where Hemant tendered an unqualified apology and withdrew his vacating notice and the matter was resolved there itself.
