PANJIM: At a long-awaited Investment Promotion Board (IPB) meeting on Monday under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant, 11 new projects were presented and approved. About 18 projects were discussed during the two-hour meeting.

Sources told Herald that most of the projects were approved except a few which wanted land in the industrial estates to put up a redimix concrete (RMC) plant.

Sources informed Herald that the IPB Board decided that even the RMC plants can be approved provided they are set up in private land. All the projects approved were in the manufacturing industry that included firms manufacturing beverages, pharmaceuticals etc, which means that they should be able to generate jobs. However, this time there were no hospitality industry projects, the source added.

The Board meeting was held after three months and a new link officer to Vandana Rao and CEO of the IPB Swetika Sachan, who is also the Director of Industries Trade and Commerce, was present.
