PONDA: Goa Forward Party (GFP) President Vijai Sardesai on Saturday said the party would propose to make Ponda, a religious tourism circuit in Goa if it comes into power in next Assembly elections.

Speaking at the inauguration of the GFP office at Tisk-Ponda, he said, “Ponda has famous temples and if used to their full potential it could become a world destination. All over the world, religious circuit has the priority and after that beach tourism.”

He said, “This tourism circuit will also help churches and masjids in their development. We propose this religious tourism circuit as it will promote economic activities and generate employment.”

GFP MLAs Jayesh Salgaonkar, Vinod Palyekar, Working President Kiran Kandolkar, Akbar Mulla, Durgadas Kamat, candidate Venktesh Naik, Councillor Chandrakala Naik, Mohandas Lolyekar, Prashant Naik and others were present.

Sardesai urged the voters to bring about a change in Ponda by electing GFP candidate Venktesh Naik.

“The BJP, which claims to be the party with difference, has murdered democracy in Goa and is just working for the corporates. Under the Centre’s pressure, it is destroying environment and promoting coal against the interest of Goans,” he alleged.

“Ponda MLA Ravi Naik is confused. He does not know which party he is working for and has failed to raise the issues of Ponda. It appears that he has almost surrendered to the BJP,” Sardesai charged.

He said GFP has selected Venktesh Naik as candidate and he deserves to become the Minister for Waste Management. He proved his mettle by working at the grass root level, getting elected as councillor three times and by effectively managing the garbage issue in Ponda as chairman of Ponda Garbage Waste management Committee.

Venktesh Naik said he chose Goa Forward Party as it is fighting to protect the interest of Goa.
