MAPUSA: Calangute villagers and members of Calangute Constituency Forum on Tuesday stopped an alleged illegal hill cutting activity that was on going at Boa Viegm Hill, near Motan Spring Calangute.
The villagers informed that one person was undertaking development of six-metre road by cutting the hill. They stopped the illegal activity and further demanded that the concerned person should restore the land to its original state.
In this regards, Calangute Constituency Forum (CCF) has also filed a complaint at the Calangute Police Station against the earthmoving machinery which was used to clear the land.
“This is a total destruction of environment where trees are uprooted to make a way for the road,” said Premanand Diukar of CCF.
