MARGAO: Even prior to the special meeting convened to discuss the issue of migrants causing nuisance in the village, Carmona Panchayat demolished an illegal shop erected by a migrant on the road widening area in the market place.

The migrant was selling fruits and vegetables in the stall erected on the road widening area and the panchayat demolished it following all procedures because of which the demolition squad was deployed to do the work.

The migrant brazenly ignored all the notices issued by the panchayat and hence the panchayat had to get the demolition squad activated. “We want to maintain our roads free of encroachments in the interest of road safety,” said Sarpanch Allwyn Jorge.
