Incoming air, rail passengers to undergo thermal scanning

PANJIM: All passengers travelling to Goa by air and rail will be compulsorily subjected to thermal scanning, a fresh Standard Operating Procedures issued by the District Magistrate (North Goa) states. 

The SOP on preventive measures was issued on Wednesday in a bid to contain spread of COVID-19 in Goa for domestic air travel and railways. 

“In the emergent scenario of new wave of COVID-19 in many States, all the incoming passengers at the airport and the railway stations within Goa will be subjected to compulsory thermal scanning,” the SOP states.

Only those who pass through such screening will be allowed to their destination or their respective homes. Passengers with body temperature beyond acceptable range will be sent for COVID-19 test on payment of Rs 2,000 per individual. Further course of action will be as per the prescribed protocol of the Health Department, the SOP added.

“Persons travelling from Goa to Maharashtra by road, railway and air and who are desirous to obtain RT-PCR negative test report from the health authorities may do so after paying Rs 2,000 with reference to order and SOP issued by Maharashtra government dated November 23, 2020. 

Further, passengers who willingly opt for COVID-19 test on the arrival at the airport and railway station in Goa shall pay Rs 2,000,” it said.

The new SOP has come into effect from November 25, Wednesday.
