PONDA: Residents of Varchawada-Bhoma have raised serious concerns over an incomplete culvert project and deteriorating road conditions in their area. According to the locals, the incomplete culvert poses a significant risk of accidents, and they have called for the Public Works Department (PWD) officials to inspect the site immediately and ensure the work is completed properly.

The construction of the culvert, a Rs 75 lakh project, reportedly began last year but was abandoned by the contractor after six months, leaving the project unfinished. Following complaints raised by the locals through the media, the contractor briefly resumed work only to abandon it again after a few months, leaving the culvert in a dangerous state. The locals highlighted that the side retaining shoulders of the culvert remain incomplete, increasing the risk of the road collapsing.

Around 100 residents who regularly commute on the route have urged the authorities to direct the contractor to finish the work. They also pointed out that the road leading to the area was tarred during the rainy season, which has since washed away, resulting in numerous potholes on the culvert. This has made the road treacherous for bike riders, with some reportedly falling due to the poor condition of the road.
