BICHOLIM: The Skill Development Ministry will organise a job fair for the youth from the State on February 23 at Ravindra Bhavan, Sanquelim.

Addressing a press conference here in the city Speaker and Sanquelim MLA, Dr Pramod Sawant said that 20 private companies would participate in the recruitment drive.

“We urge the youth from the State to take benefit of this job fair where 20 companies from outside Goa would participate. The fair would begin at 9 am and will be inaugurated by MP Shripad Naik,” Dr Sawant said.

Besides the job fair, there are several schemes of the central departments which would be explained to the youth. Youth from Bicholim and Sattari right from SSC to post-graduates in various streams can participate in the fair.

This is the first of its kind job fair in the State and Dr Sawant hopes that many youth would benefit from this fair.

“Already in about 11 States such job fairs have been organised and only Goa was still to have such a programme. I personally requested the National Skill Development Minister Anantkumar Hegde to organise such fair in the State. The entire cost of the fair would be borne by the ministry,” Dr Sawant said.

He said that when such job fair was held in Karwar in Karnataka about 3000 youth participated and 50% of them got jobs. The one-day fair would be from 9 am to 5 pm. He has urged the youth to take benefit of the fair.
