Kansa Projects proposes to handle State’s solid waste

PANJIM: Kansa Projects Pvt Ltd has submitted a proposal to the government with a request to handle State’s segregated as well as non-segregated solid waste of all the municipalities and panchayats in a cluster form. 

The firm, which is working on similar projects in Pune and Mumbai, proposes to introduce ‘Plasma Thermal Gasification’ technology for treating the waste thereby generating required energy. 

Kansa Projects Pvt Ltd Goa Region CEO Parashar Pai Khot, in a proposal submitted to Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant’s office has requested that the company be appointed as project implementation agency (PIA) for integrated solid waste management and issue appropriate order to establish cluster of city municipal corporations and panchayats. 

“I have submitted the proposal to CMO. Since Chief Minister is undergoing isolation, I was unable to meet him. But will meet him to discuss the proposal in detail, once he grants appointment,” Khot said. 

He said the firm has been working in the field of health and environment and would like to treat the State’s waste as per modern system and norms set by the govt, SC and NGT.  He said the sole aim of the firm is to take over the municipal solid waste project in Goa and run it effectively and efficiently using modern techniques and to solve the ongoing garbage issue and give concrete solution to destroy the waste and generate energy from it. 

He said, “The government is currently facing lot of criticism over its failure to handle garbage issue and as such, we have come up with a solution for the same.” 

The company proposes to create a systematic model to collect segregated & non-segregated waste from houses, hotels and other establishments, transportation, handling and scientific management of waste and generation of energy and revenue from it. 

“We will also manage pharma and medical waste as per USA model, if allowed to establish a new project specifically designed to destroy non-biodegradable waste,” the CEO said adding that animal carcass incinerator will be also in place.

He said plasma thermal gasification, an emerging technology which can process landfill waste to extract commodity recyclables and covert carbon-based materials into fuel/ energy, would be implemented.
