Kashmiris in Canacona to close shops to protest Pulwama attack

CANACONA: Around 200 shops in Canacona belonging to Kashmiri natives will remain closed for entire day on Tuesday. 

“This is to show our concern and opposition to the dastardly act committed by terrorists in our home State,” Umar Asif said.

There are 200 seasonal shops operated by Kashmiris at Patnem, Palolem and Agonda, all of these shops will remain closed for entire on Tuesday as a mark of protest against the killing of 40 Indian paramilitary police in a bomb attack by militants on their convoy in Pulwama in Kashmir, Asif added. 

Meanwhile, people from various walks of life from school going children to senior citizens participated in a candlelight march taken out on Saturday and Sunday at Chaudi in Canacona.

Meanwhile, over a thousand people protested on Saturday at Kranti Maidan in Ponda condemning the terrorist attack on CRPF Jawans in Pulwama.

A candlelight march from St Mary School to Kranti Maidan was also held.
