MARGAO: Stating that MGP will not at all affect the BJP’s chances, party president Vinay Tendulkar said party’s both candidates will win the Lok Sabha seats with a higher margin than last time.

He predicted that the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party, Goa Suraksha Manch and Aam Aadmi Party candidates will forfeit their deposits.

“Some people who had gone away from the party like Ramesh Tawadkar are back with us and that will boost our chances,” he said addressing media persons and added that ZP member Jaideep Shirodkar from Shiroda too joined the BJP.

Disclosing that the first round of campaign, which centered on meeting booth workers, has been completed, he said the second phase is currently on wherein the party members will visit households to tell the people about the BJP government’s achievements in the last five years.

“The third round will start shortly wherein the candidates will address at least 10 corner meetings in each constituency,” he said, adding that national leaders like Rajnath Singh, Smriti Irani and Nitin Gadkari will campaign for BJP in Goa.

“The Prime Minister is scheduled to visit Goa on April 12 and a meeting will be organized somewhere near Panjim at around 11 am the same day,” he said.

He dismissed the MGP as non-consequential party and said they will not affect the BJP prospects in Sanguem, Sanvordem and even Ponda. He said BJP will increase its share of votes in these areas.

“We are not looking at Salcete specifically but the whole constituency as a whole and with Goa Forward Party being with us, we shall improve our performance in Salcete this time,” he said while disclosing that many people from the area are joining the BJP.

Vinay admitted Sudesh Bhisse from Guirdolim into the BJP along with 20 others.
