MAPUSA: Calangute panchayat has refused to renew the trade licence of a Karnataka-based businessman for illegally running restaurant in a residential house at the Gauravado of the village.

The panchayat had initially granted licence to Ravikant Yadav on January 21, 2019 to run a restaurant. However, it refused to renew the licence on ground that Yadav furnished wrong and misleading information about the premises while applying for the licence.

Panchayat secretary Raghuvir Bagkar issued notice to Yadav directing him to shut down the illegal restaurant failing which action would be initiated against him.

Police said that this particular property is in litigation and a series of crimes have been committed at the property.

According to police, former DGP Aditya Arya had raided this place and had rescued 20 females. Police had also found weapons at this property as well as a murder had occurred at this premise.

Yadav was also previously arrested by Goa police in an attempt to murder case, flesh trade and shootout at Anjuna.
