MARGAO: Ajit Bezbaruah, a native of Assam, was found guilty of murdering fellow Assamese Ratan Das on December 31, 2015 and is sentenced to life imprisonment on Friday. He is also ordered to pay a fine of Rs 30,000. The sentence was pronounced by Additional Sessions Judge-II Dvijple Patkar.
On December 31, Ajit stabbed fellow Ratan in his stomach with a kitchen knife at their residence at Pokermol in Kalay and Ratan who was rushed to Hospicio, where he was declared dead on arrival.
