PONDA: Collem police during a routine patrol in the forest near Mollem check post seized 12.4 liters of abandoned liquor. The liquor stock, suspected to be hidden by unidentified individuals for transportation to Karnataka, was found abandoned in the forest. Authorities suspect the intention was to smuggle the liquor across state borders. The seized liquor, valued at Rs 5,515, has been handed over to officials from the Sanguem Excise Department.

Following the implementation of the Code of Conduct, Collem police have intensified patrolling near checkpoints. While conducting patrols in the forest, officers encountered the abandoned liquor bottles at around 12 noon on Monday and found 37 bottles in the desolate area. Despite efforts to locate individuals associated with the hidden liquor, no suspects were found at the scene.

PSI Sadanand Desai, under the supervision of PI Sagun Sawant, conducted panchnama.
