Liquor, goods worth over Rs 6 lakh seized  by Amboli Police; driver apprehended

PANJIM: Amboli Police seized liquor and goods worth over Rs 6 lakh and apprehend the driver from Miraj at the Amboli Check Post, late Sunday night. The vehicle at Rs. 50,000 was also seized.

The accused was arrested for the transportation of illegal Goa-made liquor, concealed within an ostensibly empty fruit crates. He was identified as Prakash Bajirao Markad, aged 33, and residing in Duttnagar Sangli District of  Miraj. 

Acting on a tip-off, Amboli police acted swiftly on the matter and managed to apprehend the accused. Forty boxes of illicit Goa-made liquor were found. The boxes were cleverly disguised as paper tapes. However, the police seized goods amounting to a total value of Rs. 6,11,600, including the liquor and a carrier vehicle valued at Rs. 50,000.

Markad has been detained in connection with this illicit activity, as the authorities continue their investigation into the matter. The swift action by the Amboli Police helped in apprehendinbg the culprit.
