CALANGUTE: Leader of the Opposition Michael Lobo on Tuesday strongly condemned the murderous attack on a 19-year-old boy at Calangute and said that he will not allow people to take law into their hands.
Reacting to the allegation made by victim’s mother Shaheen Saudagar, Lobo denied that he was shielding the assailants.
He said that soon after the incident the police immediately arrested two accused and that one accused was still absconding.
Lobo said that fight between the accused and victim broke out over a petty quarrel and that the assault was not intentional.
Meanwhile, Calangute Police Station Police Inspector Laxi Amonkar said that the police arrested Ashish Palkar and Shitish Kerkar, both residents of Calangute on the charge of assaulting Abdul Saudagar of Orda-Candolim while, Ashish’ elder brother Saish was still at large.
The PI said that the incident occurred on May 8 and the two accused were arrested on the same day and have been remanded in police custody.
