MARGAO: The Congress legislator MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco has hit a self goal by urging Congress Goa President not to contest any election.

Reginaldo who has been very vocal regarding the affairs of Congress, ever since he has been MLA, has said that GPCC President Girish Chodankar should not contest the elections, but instead strengthen the party.

Reginaldo further added that there is no dearth of leadership in Congress and hence Girish Chodankar should strengthen the party.

"Congress has no dearth of leadership unlike the BJP in Goa. This is the reason why BJP is welcoming them (Congressmen) in their party. The BJP is welcoming all our leaders in their party with open arms, their offer is on, will be on and offer will not die until BJP dies" added Reginaldo.

When asked why he had chosen to make this comment now, at a time when Congress was set to start their campaign for the Lok Sabha elections and Assembly bypolls, he said, "I am a party worker of Congress and I will speak my heart like I do always, whether anyone likes it or not" said Aleixo.
