Ponda

Ponda Municipal Council (PMC) Chairperson Pradeep Naik said that the enforcement of model code of conduct for the upcoming LS election would not have much of an impact on the pre-monsoon work of PMC.

Naik said “PMC has already begun major pre-monsoon works in its jurisdiction including cleaning of gutters from February 12. Model code of conduct will not impact the works, which are already underway. We are cleaning gutters in PMC jurisdiction with help of Municipal workers and carrying out works with its own workers for cleaning the city without floating tenders does not violate code of conduct.”

He further said “We knew that major tenders cannot be floated when code of conduct in force, but those work which are underway before code of conduct coming into force can be completed”

Meanwhile, currently all roads in Ponda City have been dug up for laying sewerage lines and the government had already decided not to hotmix the road unless ongoing sewerage  work is completed. However, people are expecting at least repairs to potholes ridden road that are creating dust pollution and trouble to vehicles and pedestrians.
