Complaint accuses Kejriwal of causing fear among the Christians and Muslims and Congress spokesperson Kawthankar of attempting to create communal divide

PANJIM:  Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has filed a complaint of poll code violation against AAP national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal as well as Goa Pradesh Congress Committee chief spokesperson Sunil Kawthankar.

In a complaint filed against Kejriwal, BJP’s Keshav Prabhu has stated that the Delhi chief minister has blatantly violated the model code of conduct by inciting religious sentiments in his speech during the public meeting in Lohia Maidan in Margao.

Keshav said, “Arvind Kerjiwal has been reported to have made utterances such as mob lynching taking place in the country under the guise of cattle theft is actually organised murder. Arvind Kejriwal also tried to propagate fear among the Christian and Muslim communities by his utterance that Christians and Muslims will be driven into the sea under the guise of infiltrators.”

He has also filed a complaint against Congress’ Sunil Kawthankar and alleged that the statement of BJP national President Amit Shah has been misinterpreted in an attempt to spread lies against the party.

“He (Sunil) has attempted to create a communal divide by wrongly putting forth the speech of Amit Shah. This is a gross violation of MCC and is a heinous attempt to create a communal rift,” Keshav said.

Meanwhile, the BJP has also filed a complaint with the Chief Electoral Officer against a Catholic priest for “violating” the model code of conduct and allegedly creating an atmosphere of hate and fear.

BJP Panjim Mandal general secretary Vishnu Naik alongwith the complaint has attached a CD comprising of videos which have gone viral on social media.

In the complaint, Naik has stated, “The video clip depicts a religious priest addressing the people within the building of a religious institution and creating an atmosphere of hate and fear against a particular political party and a specific religion.”

He has demanded the CEO for a thorough investigation and action against the priest “for spreading hate and destabilising religious harmony.”
