Constituency-wise review of works and election campaign

PANJIM: With the election campaigning hitting the fag end, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant had lunch diplomacy for the coalition members urging them to rally behind official candidate of NDA.

Sawant during the meeting, which was attended by the coalition partners including Goa Forward Party (GFP) and Independents also discussed about streamlining the administration in the current rule post lifting of election code of conduct.

This was the first meeting of Sawant with the entire coalition- BJP, GFP and Independent, after taking being sworn in as Chief Minister on March 19 post death of Manohar Parrikar. Sawant, who is been busy holding polls rallies in Goa, Nagpur and Karwar, took the opportunity to pledged alliance partners support to their candidate.

Speaking to media persons post the meeting, BJP MLA and Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said that the Chief Minister had an informal meeting with the coalition partners on the Lok Sabha elections. “CM has asked everyone to work harder to ensure that both the candidates win the parliamentary elections,” he said.

Rane said that CM also took constituency-wise review of works and election campaign.

Power Minister Nilesh Cabral said that strategy was worked out to ensure party wins both Lok Sabha seats and four by-elections including Panjim.

Sources also revealed that Chief Minister sounded worried as far as three by-elections are concerned and wanted the coalition members to ask their supporters to work for NDA candidate there.

During the meeting, the Ministers raised concern about such long code of conduct owing to which the administration has come to standstill. With several proposals and works pending for clearance, there was also discussion on whether cabinet meetings can take place.

When asked, GFP President and Deputy Chief Minister Vijai Sardesai said that he reached bit late for the meeting and CM did not had any discussion with him on the election. “We only discussed how the election code has paralyzed the administration totally,” he said.
