Ponda taluka ready for polls: Returning officer

PONDA: Returning Officer and Ponda Deputy Collector Kedar Naik has said that Ponda taluka is fully prepared for the Lok Sabha and Assembly by-polls at Shiroda.

Ponda taluka has 172 polling centres out of which 43 are in Ponda, 44 in Priol constituency, 45 in Shiroda constituency and 40 in Marcaim constituency. 

Naik said that around 2,300 government staffers have been deputed for poll duty.

He informed that adequate security arrangement has been made; that over 400 armed police besides two paramilitary companies from Kerala have been posted in the taluka.

He informed that the primary schools which are used as polling stations are made ready by providing all facilities with repairing or replacing fans, repairing toilets, arranging water and etc.

 for electoral staff, and ramp which are necessary for voting especially for physically handicapped voters. The

Pandals are also erected to protect the voters from scorching sunlight.
