PANJIM: The Maharastrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) and Shiv Sena on Monday demanded that the police should initiate action against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers, who gathered at Sanquelim on Sunday for violating the curfew in force.

MGP’s Marcaim legislator Sudin Dhavalikar said the way the BJP workers violated the curfew and protested at Sanquelim on Sunday was completely improper and a dangerous sign for democracy.

Dhavalikar said what was most shocking was that the Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant was watching the show of strength by BJP workers from his residence and this needs to be condemned.

Shiv Sena Goa chief Jitesh Kamat strongly demanded that North Goa Collector immediately book the CM's wife and former BJP Mahila Morcha president Sulakshana Sawant for endangering lives of thousands of people by gathering them at Sanquelim.

Kamat said Sulakshana Sawant made public statement that she is with 5000 supporters and well wishers to counter a political yatra by another political party. Her statement is a clear admission that she and her husband have no regards for the health of the people. The SOP order issued by the North Goa Collector restricts political gathering of not more than 100, he said adding that Sulakshana Sawant violated the order.
