MLA urges CM to postpone Class X, XII exams

MARGAO: Congress MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco on Monday urged the State government to postpone the Class X and Class XII examinations in view of rapid surge in COVID-19 cases and deaths in the State and in keeping with the system followed by rest of the country.

In a letter to the Chief Minister, Aleixo Reginaldo pointed out that the CBSE and CISCE have cancelled the Class X examinations while postponing the Class XII exams.

“Many other States too have postponed the Board exams,” he stated.

Further, he mentioned that Goa was going through a difficult time and referred to 11 people dying of COVID on Sunday thus taking the total death toll to 883.

He also pointed out that as on Sunday, Goa had more than 7,000 active corona cases.

While pointing out that even the Prime Minister has said that well being of students has to be top priority for the government, Aleixo Reginaldo asked the Chief Minister to postpone the Goa Board examinations.
