PONDA: Expressing concern over the COVID deaths reported at the Goa Medical College and Hospital at Bambolim due to oxygen shortage, Marcaim MLA Minister Sudin Dhavalikar demanded that the government immediately set up ICUs at Ponda Sub District Hospital.

He said, “The SDH has only two doctors including the Medical Superintendent working under pressure and looking after nearly 150 COVID patients. There is pressure on the lone doctor looking after several patients as the Medical Superintendent has also to look after the administration. Besides this, sufficient stock of medicines should be provided at earliest to avoid untoward incidents.”

He said, “The govt procured around 90 ventilators which are lying idle. It procured 200 ventilators meant for ICU and of these, 10 were provided to Ponda SDH but these too are not used.”
