To move out heavy vehicles especially buses from the town; To undertake a structural stability study of New Market building

MARGAO: Traffic congestion in Margao has been a regular feature especially from the Holy Spirit Church to the Old Collectorate building, which has been causing a lot of inconvenience to commuters.

To overcome this problem, the Margao Municipal Council has decided to act against the heavy traffic plying through the town and plans to move out heavy vehicles especially buses from the town.

Besides, the council will also undertake a structural stability study of the building in the New Market.

MMC chairperson Dr Babita Prabhudessai wondered why outgoing buses have to ply through the town when the Eastern bypass can be used. “We feel a very strong need to undertake a survey of traffic in the town and hence have asked the Deputy Superintendent of Police Traffic to give us the statistics of vehicles plying through Margao,” she said.

Traffic congestion is a norm every day from 9 am to noon from Holy Spirit Church to the Old Collectorate building which is causing a lot of heartburn for many.
