vasco: The major work on the new Zuari parallel bridge will resume in the first week of October. 

A Dilip Buildcon Pvt Ltd (DBL) official explained that, ‘the cables required for the new parallel bridge have already come and the new software will have to be bought from China, as the hardware machinery has already been installed and to make it functional, the software will be required’.

Elaborating on this, Atul Joshi, Vice President (Structures) DBL, said, “Although the major work has been halted, the cables which were required for the new parallel bridge building purpose has already come. There was some issue with regards to one monitoring system and the software which was supposed to come. 

“We will have to buy the software from them (China) only as most of their parts (hardware) have already been installed with the cables and their system is only going to work,”he added,

Joshi also informed that for the project consultancy and for their action of patch, they have to engage the European professionals now for the erection of the bridge.

He said the major bridge construction work will most likely resume by the first week of October 2020. 

“Within a week's time the bridge segment related work will start. The Cable erection work will also commence by September end,” he added.  

Commenting on the status of this new bridge Joshi informed that the work on one pylon which is connected to an 83-metre-long track has been completed and that the remaining work will begin soon. 

“Considering the current situation of ongoing pandemic we are doing well,” he added.
