Vasco Police register a case of attempt to murder against three persons, who are absconding

VASCO: In a gruesome incident reported at Mangor Hill on Saturday, three persons allegedly attacked a garage owner, one Mohammad Ishaan alias Shanu, with swords. Shanu was later shifted to the Goa Medical College and Hospital and is reportedly in a critical condition.

Vasco Police registered a case of attempt of murder under Section 307 rw 34 of IPC against Ismail Shaikh alias Kabbu, his brother Nawaz Shaikh and another person on Saturday. 

According to police, a witness revealed that Ismail, Navaz and another person came to the house of Shanu on a scooter, told him to come out and later allegedly attacked him with swords inflicting serious injuries. The witness’ account described that Kabbu allegedly assaulted Shanu, who started bleeding profusely and later tried to save himself by entering a retail shop nearby. Kabbu entered the shop and further assaulted the victim. The three, who later fled from the scene, are absconding.

Shanu’s friends immediately took him to the Chicalim Cottage hospital but on account of the serious injuries sustained in the gruesome attack, the victim was later admitted to GMC for further treatment.

It is learnt that victim had purchased a new two-wheeler and has planned to go for lunch with his friends.

It is learnt that Kabbu is involved in four similar cases against him in 2009, 2013 and 2015. 

Deputy Superintendent of Police Sunita Sawant said that she has directed the policemen to find out if there are any non-cognizable offences registered against the accused. 

“Vasco and Verna Police Stations have already sent three cases under the National Security Act (NSA) and 5 externment cases to Collector the proceedings of which are on. There are two cases each in Vasco and Mormugao pending hearings at Collectorate for externment,” DySP Sawant said.
