VASCO: Stating that recently residents of the containment zone in Mangor had to face lots of problems on various fronts, Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho on Wednesday assured to convey the firsthand information and suggestions to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant during the next meeting for the welfare of the people.
He was addressing at the joint meeting of MLAs from Mormugao taluka, panchas and other stakeholders in the Chicalim panchayat hall on Tuesday to take the review of the situation in Mangor.
“The responsibility to the local legislator from Mormugao taluka, who could meet the frontline warriors, administrative officers and who can take the first hand information about the ground situation in the containment zone, was given to me and I will have to report about this to the Chief Minister,” Godinho said.
“More COVID testing, lack of ambulances, loss of employment, etc, are some of the issues which I will put forth before the CM during the next meeting. I feel the government should issue a directive to all private companies and industries not to victimise people infected with COVID or from the containment zones. Quality and the quantity of supply of grocery items to the containment zone have been conveyed to the local administration," he added.
Medical Superintendent of Chicalim Sub District Hospital Dr Rajendra Borkar said it was a fruitful meeting with the ministers, MLAs and other stakeholders.
“We have convinced the members of this review meeting to follow Social Distancing-Mask wearing-Sanitization (SMS). We have also explained to them the scientific reasons why these things are important.”
Dr Borkar said "As doctor we treat many positive cases on a day-to-day basis and so far we are safe and that's because we follow SMS strictly.”
About the antibody test, Dr Borkar said, “This test is going to start soon and we are going to implement it in the Mangor area. And this will also enable the higher authorities to decide upon the lifting of containment zone from that area.”
