Margao Fire Services attended 38 calls with trees falling across the taluka

MARGAO: Pre-monsoon showers accompanied by  wind lashed  several parts of Salcete causing  damage to houses  and property. 

According to Margao Fire station officer Gil Souza in a day Margao fire station personnel attended  38 calls. Most of these calls were to attend to trees falling on houses in various parts of Salcete particularly in 

Margao. He said that except for five calls, all the calls had been attended and  obstructions from the road were cleared .

Souza said that a tree fell on the house at Comba Margao while in another case a tree fell on the car at Aquem Margao causing  loss of Rs 18,000 while property worth Rs 2.5 lakh was saved.

In various tree fall incidents a tree fell on the compound gate of a house at Aquem, Margao, causing loss of Rs 30,000, another mango tree fell on the house  and scooter  at Dongorim Navelim causing loss of Rs 35,000 and a mango tree fell on car parking shed  at Pedda Comba  causing loss of Rs 40,000. Property worth Rs 60,000 was saved.
