PANJIM: Elections for the post of chairperson and vice chairperson of Mormugao, Margao and Mapusa municipal councils will now be held on Thursday, May 27.
Elections for these posts were earlier scheduled on May 10 but were postponed after some of the councillors-elect tested positive for coronavirus.
The post of chairperson of Mapusa Municipal Council has been reserved for women, while the chairperson’s posts of the two other councils are unreserved.
According to information available from Municipal Administration Director Gurudas Pilarnekar, interested councillors may file their nominations for the posts of chairperson and vice-chairperson on May 26 till 1 pm and if necessitated, elections will be held at 11 am on May 27.
The new chairpersons and vice chairpersons of Quepem and Sanguem municipal councils, both reserved for women candidates, were elected on May 10.
