BICHOLIM: The Mayem Bhoo Vimochan Nagrik Kruti Samiti (MBVNKS) has strongly asked the government to completely resolve the custodian issue and have threatened of an agitation if no solution is found within one month.

Addressing a press conference, the samiti President, Kashinath Mayekar said that the government had given them several assurances but none has been fulfilled.

“Already lot of time has been wasted and we will not keep quiet. The government has already made a law and it should be implemented. About 67 villagers were given sanads and we want to know what happened about the further process after granting these sanads,” Mayekar said.

“This is the work of the MLA, we can only demand with the government and all the follow-up process should be done by the MLA,” Mayekar said adding “the prolonged process of giving freedom to the villages should be put in action.” He also came down on the AG for not putting forth the stand of the government in the High Court over the new law.

Mayekar expressed fear that if the case goes against the government the people from Mayem will again have to live under the evacuee property act.
