Meet discusses on prevention, control the spread of vector borne diseases

MAPUSA: A block level review meeting on preventing and controlling the spread of vector borne diseases was chaired by the Bardez Deputy Collector and SDO Gaurish Shankwalkar in the Deputy Collector’s office, Mapusa. 

Health officers from the various Primary Health Centres (PHC’s) and Urban Health Centres (UHC’s) discussed the preventive measures adopted to control the spread of vector borne diseases and added that most of these cases were reported near construction sites. 

The doctors and health officers were asked to seek cooperation of the community and schools to help chalk out a plan to control the spread of vector borne diseases.  

The meeting discussed the proposal of including the vector borne diseases control programme in the Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP). 

The meeting called for screening of labourers working at construction sites and provide them with health cards.  

Convenor of Goa Civic and Consumer Action Network (GOACAN), Roland Martins emphasized on how to control the spread of vector borne diseases and promoted public participation in controlling the spread of the same.
