VALPOI: Melauli villagers on Saturday hailed the government’s decision of shifting the IIT project from their village.

However, whilst addressing the media persons, the villagers said they will continue with their protest against the IIT project till their demands are not fulfilled.

Melauli locals have demanded that the government revoke the Collector’s Order for Transfer of Land and subsequent proceedings; revoke the mutation entry of the name of IIT Goa in the land record for Survey Number 67/1, Melauli village and quash all the FIRs registered against the protestors. The villagers have also demanded to rectify the land records for Survey Number 67/1, Melauli with the names of all the cultivators and occupants.

“Unless and until these demands are met, we will continue protesting,” said the Melauli villagers.

The locals from Margao, Valpoi and Usgao also visited Melauli to support the villagers in their protest.
