PANJIM: The Mhadei river diversion matter did not come up for hearing in the Supreme on Thursday too, which was as expected.

As per the cause-list, the special leave petition (SLP) filed by the Goa government challenging the Inter-State Mhadei River Disputes Tribunal’s verdict, was listed for hearing for two days i.e. November 29 and 30.

The matter is now likely to be heard next week.

According to information available, no matter was taken up by the court due to a scheduled programme and it was informed that the remaining cause-list would be taken up on Wednesday, December 6.

A strong team from Goa comprising Advocate General Devidas Pangam and his legal team, two consultants, water resources chief engineer Pramod Badami and his technical team who had left for Delhi returned on Thursday night.

During the previous hearing held on July 10 this year, the Supreme Court had admitted the Goa government’s SLP challenging the verdict of the Inter-State Mhadei Disputes Tribunal granting Karnataka 13.42 tmc (thousand million cubic feet) of water for its Kalasa-Bhandura drinking water-cum-irrigation project.
