VALPOI: Over 400 migrant workers in Sattari complained that they haven’t received groceries from the State government since the lockdown.

These migrants are mostly employed in the construction sector; and they are mostly from Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Karnataka.

Under the Central Government guidelines, the daily wage migrant workers must be supplied groceries by the State governments.

“We are residing in Valpoi municipal area. We have already submitted all our personal details to the local councillor and also to the Booth Level Officer, but till now we have not got grocery,” migrant worker Satya said.

“Almost 400 hundreds migrant workers are working on daily wages at construction sites in Sattari taluka. Since last 20 days we have not been working. We are all staying in rented rooms. We have exhausted all our savings. Now, we don’t have food; and no money to buy food as there is no work,” another migrant worker complained.
