PANJIM: With formation of low pressure area in southwest Arabian Sea and adjoining Lakshadweep area on Thursday, Goa is set to witness moderate to heavy rainfall activities from May 14 to 17.  

In a press statement, IMD Goa has informed that a low pressure area over southeast Arabian Sea and adjoining Lakshadweep has been formed on Thursday and is likely to intensify into cyclonic storm on May 16. 

IMD has warned of heavy rainfall activities for Goa from May 15-17 while moderate showers would be reported at isolated places on Thursday and Friday. 

IMD predicted squally wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph very likely to prevail along and off Maharashtra-Goa coasts on May 15 and 16.  

The weather authority said the sea conditions will be rough to very rough over Comorin area and along and off Kerala coast on May 14-15 and over east central Arabian Sea along and off Karnataka coast on May 15 and Maharashtra–Goa coast on May 16. 

The fishermen are warned against venturing into sea till May 17 while those already in the deep sea are advised to return to the coast immediately.
