PORVORIM: With the 20-day long monsoon session of the Legislative Assembly coming to an end on Friday, Speaker Rajesh Patnekar said that the House Committee will be constituted next.

The Speaker made this assurance during his valedictory speech in the House. The Committee, to be constituted, will also comprise sub-committees such as the Public Undertaking Committee, Public Accounts Committee, Library Committee, Petition Committee, Budget Committee, etc.

The Speaker added that he would call for a get-together of all the legislators after the conclusion of the Ganesh Chaturthi festival. “I will hold a get-together of all the MLAs after Ganesh Chaturthi, in Panjim, and I request everyone to attend,” he said. When Herald contacted Patnekar, he explained that as a customary practice a get-together is arranged for the MLAs after the session but as the daily business would conclude late at night and further, in view the month of Shravan, he decided to postpone the informal meeting of the MLAs.

Close to 800 starred questions were tabled during the session of which 100-odd were answered orally. The Speaker also acknowledged the presence of senior legislator Pratpasingh Rane even during the late hours and added that Rane was amongst few MLAs who gave his full attendance. “Out of 20 days, he was here for at least 18 days. He stayed till the last day of the session,” he added.
