PORVORIM:  Chief Minister Pramod Sawant informed the House that the State will implement the National Educational Policy 2019 within two years, thus revamping the entire schooling pattern.

Explaining the schooling pattern under new policy, Sawant explained that for the first three years for the student of age between 3-6 (pre-primary to second standard) will be given pre-school education or foundation education.

“For the students between third, fourth and fifth standard would be called as preparatory education, while next three years of standard sixth, seventh and eighth will be classified as middle-class while the standards of ninth, tenth, eleventh and twelth would be considered as secondary education,”Sawant said.

The education minister added that Goa has around 100 aided schools, which have less than 100 students despite the fact that all the facilities are extended to these institutions.

He added  he govt is considering the possibility of amalgamating these schools with the nearby facility (school) from next academic year onwards. “We also urged unaided schools to take over our government primary schools are run them. The concept has been adopted in case of two schools already,” he stated.

Pointing out that there are approximately 1,000 teachers working as full time, part time, double part time, lecture and contract basis, para teachers, etc, Sawant said that a special committee under education department would be constituted to work out modalities to absorb these teachers. “The report would be submitted to me in next six months.
