PANJIM: With the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) outfit wanting a film called “Goa Files” on the inquisition, the State’s legislators continued to “play safe” by feigning ignorance or by refusing to comment in this regard on an issue that has the potential to flare up tensions when none exist.

The HJS spokesperson had said that the “making of Goa Files” will be discussed during the 11th edition of the annual all-India Hindu Rashtra Convention at Ramnathi in Ponda.

For the second consecutive day, O Heraldo tried to speak to more MLAs on the statement made by the Hindu outfit HJS, they continued with their ‘not seen’, ‘not read’ or don’t want to talk remarks. Incidentally, Venzy Viegas Benualim MLA, Venzy Viegas has taken the unique position on an issue of such importance and concern by saying “O Heraldo has boycotted me, will you take the comment? Strange. I will WhatsApp.”

Ramesh Tawadkar, Goa Assembly speaker and Canacona MLA said, “I have no idea about this statement. Unless I go through the statement and understand in what context it is said I would not like to comment.”

“I have no idea. I am unable to understand why such a statement is been made,” Digambar Kamat, BJP’s Margao MLA said.

Alexio Reginaldo Lourenco, Curtorim MLA said, “I have heard about this statement. But I am not in Goa to comment at present.”

“See, we cannot stop anyone from making a film. But one will have to keep in mind that we don’t hurt anyone’s sentiments,” Ulhas Tuenkar,  Navelim MLA.

BJP Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar said, “I really have no idea about any such statement being made.”

It may be recalled that the right-wing outfit, Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) on Wednesday had said it would discuss the making of a film, ‘Goa Files’, on what they propound were “atrocities on Hindus” during the Portuguese regime. The film should be in line with ‘Kashmir Files’ and ‘Kerala Story’.
