MARGAO: More trouble erupted at the wholesale fish market in Seraulim after the fishermen from the SGPDA market went to check the status there on Thursday.

The fishermen yet again found retail trade of not just fish but also fruits and vegetables happening at the market. The fishermen have demanded that immediate steps to be taken to remove all kind of retail trade from the market and is given a fair chance for the trade at the legal retail market.

The fishermen went and checked on the affairs at the wholesale fish market space. The fishermen told that the persons retailing there are under the garb of growing and selling vegetables are buying from Gandhi Market and selling them at the wholesale fish market area.

“We had been assured by the authorities that they will clear all trades happening beyond the SGPDA retail market and were also told to pay the dues. We paid them all the dues but the retail trade hasn’t ended,” said fisherman Francisco Dias.

The fishermen from retail market have demanded immediate removal of retail fish vendors at the wholesale market to create healthy business atmosphere.
