VASCO: The Vasco chicken market which is currently in a dilapidated condition will be repaired while the Mormugao Municipal Council will initiate action against illegal chicken and meat vendors.
Reacting to recent complaints by the chicken and mutton stall owners situated in the market, Vasco MLA Krishna ‘Daji’ Salkar said that measures have been taken to repair the market and that he has asked Mormugao Municipal Council Chairperson Leo Rodrigues to take action on illegal chicken and meat vendors and to streamline the entire operation. The municipality will initiate action against illegal chicken and meat vendors the way it is taking against illegal fruit and vegetables vendors and encroachments.
Rodrigues said that action will be taken against illegal chicken and mutton stalls operating in the municipal jurisdiction. According to him, there are some unauthorised stalls selling chicken in the market and it will not be permitted. Also incidents of slaughtering chicken in the vegetable market has been reported and the same will be stopped, he said.
Rodrigues said that all the vendors in the market will streamlined so that it does not inconvenience the people visiting the market.
