PANJIM: The North Goa Zilla Panchayat on Monday demanded that Rs 30 lakh be allocated to each ZP member to undertake development work.

Members at the general body meeting also demanded a hike in the amount un-availed for natural calamities from Rs 5000 to Rs 1 lakh.

The meeting further discussed allocation of funds to be utilised to undertake various development projects in North Goa and other issues pertaining to the conduct of the office. Earlier, the meeting approved the minutes of the previous meeting.

Sources said the meeting also demanded to bring primary health and education under zilla panchayats.

The meeting was chaired by North Goa ZP President Ankita Navelkar and was attended by Vice-President S Vassudev Korgaonkar  and other ZP members.
