MARGAO: The Maina-Curtorim police on Thursday arrested 24-year-old Sticken Fernandes from Telaulim, Navelim, for allegedly raping a minor girl. The police said that the minor girl was kidnapped from the lawful guardianship of her mother. According to the complaint, Fernandes gave the victim a colourless intoxicating liquid and took her to a hotel room in Colva and raped her .
PI Ravi Dessai of the Maina-Curtorim police station said that an offence under Sections 363, 328,376 (3) 506 (ii) of the IPC, Section 8 of the Goa Children Act and Section 4 and 8 of the POCSO Act has been registered against the accused. The police said that the accused also threatened the girl with dire consequences if she disclosed the incident to anyone. The medical examination of the victim will be conducted and her statement will be recorded, said the police. The police reportedly visited the hotel where the rape took place and further investigation is in progress.
