Several social media users have accused BJP of losing its sanctity stating ethics and morality have been sidelined

PANJIM: As the latest development in Goa politics has once again kept everyone on their toes, netizens, as well as BJP workers, have taken it up to social media to express their disgust to the entry of 10 Congress MLAs into BJP.

Many questioned the split from the Congress especially when BJP is already in a comfortable zone, several others have slammed the party for allowing the entry of Panjim MLA Atanasio Monserrate (Babush) who faces serious criminal charges. Ironically, the recently held Panjim by-poll saw BJP’s campaign revolving around Babush’s crime history.

A former close aide of ex-Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, Griraj Pai Vernekar has slammed the BJP’s move indicating BJP’s high stature was lost after the tall leader’s death on March 17, 2019.

“In today's scenario, we were already feeling lost. This has assured us that the BJP we supported because of Manohar Parrikar is merely a replica of the Congress, within months of his sad demise. I have repeatedly said that Goa BJP needs new leadership at the organisation level and today, I stand vindicated. It is time we identify traitors within the party and hunt them down,” he posted on his Facebook page.

BJP follower Shefali Vaidhya has equated Congress with filth while criticising the BJP for welcoming them with open arms. “Do NOT understand d (the) desperation to induct @INCIndia filth into @BJP4India in GOA. It is a small state, no numbers to impact RS (Rajya Sabha), the govt (government) of @DrPramodPSawant was already stable. Then why? WHY accept the worst sickos into the party?” she commented.

Several social media users have accused BJP of losing its sanctity stating ethics or the morality to been sidelined. “BJP=Congress 2.0 No ethics left. No morality let. Taking in all kinds of filth,” commented Vayu, a Twitterati.

Reena Singh, another Twitter user said, “In my opinion, BJP is turning into Congress mode. Very sad!” while Vikram. Rau stated, “BJP is becoming a Kichidi party.” Another Twitterati Vimal Lakhotia has asked the deserted Congress MLAs to re-contest on BJP ticket instead of switching over the party by betraying voters’ trust. “To save democracy, these power hungry MLAs from Goa should first resign as MLAs and contest again on BJP symbol so not as to betray the voters’ trust who voted them on a Congress symbol,” he said.

Accepting Babush into the BJP has also upset the party workers as both Vernekar and Vaidhya have come down heavily for allowing him into the party fold. “Let me begin by quoting the very thing BJP stands for: Nation first, party second. Inducting a person like Babush is breaking away from nation first policy. He was and is a curse Goa had to live with. In hindsight, I wonder if state BJP leaders sold the seat to him with an understanding of his joining the party later,” he posted on Facebook adding, “Inducting A grade thugs who have destroyed the nation is not nation first. It has morphed into power first.”

“…I am so disappointed with the party’s decision to induct rape accuse Monserrate and his looter buddies into the BJP that I will not let this go. Don’t understand the @BJP4India decision to accept filth like Babu Kavalekar and Babush Monserrate into BJP Goa this is importing the whole @INCIndia filth wholesale into the party, this is not ‘Congress-mukt Goa, this is Congress-yukt BJP,” Vaidhya stated
