Nine nominations filed on day-two for March 20 polls, none for ccp

PANJIM: Nine nominations have been received on Friday for the March 20 Municipal polls, to be held across eleven municipalities. Total 10 nominations are filed till date. The filing of nominations for Municipal areas and Panaji City Corporation (CCP) started from Thursday.  However, even on day-two CCP received none.  On day two, nominations received are two each in Mapusa, Valpoi, Cuncolim, Canacona and one in Quepem municipal areas.  Thursday one nomination was filed from ward no. 4 of Veling-Priol village panchayat. The pending bye-elections to 22 different wards of village panchayats, the Navelim zilla panchayat constituency and also to ward no. 9 of Sanquelim municipality are also schedule on March 20.  As such, only two nominations have come for village panchayat polls, while no nominations have been filed for zilla panchayat and Sanquelim ward. 

Scrutiny of applications will take place on March 5, while withdrawal of candidature will be allowed on March 6. 

Counting of votes for all, will take place on March 22.
